Remy Ma, born **Reminisce Kioni Smith** on May 30, 1980, in the Bronx, New York, is an American rapper and actress. She was discovered by the late rapper Big Pun and gained prominence as a member of Fat Joe’s group, **Terror Squad**. Her debut solo album, **”There’s Something About Remy: Based on a True Story”** (2006), peaked at number 33 on the Billboard 200.
Some of her most commercially successful songs include **”Lean Back”** (with Terror Squad), **”Whuteva”**, **”Conceited”**, and **”All the Way Up”** (with Fat Joe featuring French Montana and Infared). Remy Ma has won multiple awards, including two BET Awards for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and two Vibe Awards.
From 2015 to 2020, she starred on VH1’s reality series **Love & Hip Hop: New York** alongside her husband, rapper Papoose. Remy Ma has also faced legal issues, including an eight-year prison sentence for shooting a woman outside a Manhattan nightclub in 2008.
