Rapsody, whose real name is **Marlanna Evans**, was born on January 21, 1983, in Snow Hill, North Carolina. She is an American rapper and songwriter known for her intricate rhyme patterns, socially conscious lyrics, and collaborations with artists such as Kendrick Lamar and Anderson.Paak.
Rapsody began her career at North Carolina State University, where she joined the hip-hop collective **H2O** and its spinoff group **Kooley High**. She gained recognition after signing with producer **9th Wonder’s** label, **It’s a Wonderful World Music Group**, and releasing her debut album **”The Idea of Beautiful”** in 2012.
Her second album, **”Laila’s Wisdom”** (2017), received critical acclaim and earned her two Grammy nominations for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song. She continued to build her reputation with her third album, **”Eve”** (2019), which pays tribute to influential black women throughout history.
