Monie Love

Monie Love, born **Simone Johnson** (originally Simone Gooden) on July 2, 1970, in Battersea, London, England, is a British rapper, actress, and radio personality. She gained prominence in the late 1980s and 1990s with hits like **”Monie in the Middle”** and **”It’s a Shame (My Sister)”**. Monie Love was a member of the Native Tongues Posse and signed with Warner Bros. Records, releasing her debut album **”Down to Earth”** in 1990.

In addition to her music career, Monie Love has also worked as a radio personality and actress. She currently hosts an afternoon urban adult contemporary show at KISS 104.1 WALR in Atlanta. Monie Love continues to be an influential figure in hip-hop and a pioneer for female emcees.
