Yo-Yo, born Yolanda Whitaker on August 4, 1971, in Compton, California. Yo-Yo is an American rapper and actress known for her strong female empowerment messages in her music. She gained recognition with her debut album “Make Way for the Motherlode” (1991), which included the hit single “You Can’t Play with My Yo-Yo” featuring Ice Cube.

Yo-Yo’s music often addresses social issues and promotes positive messages, contrasting with the gangsta rap style popular at the time. She has also appeared in several films and TV shows, including “Boyz n the Hood” (1991), “Menace II Society” (1993), and “Martin” (1992).
